Expectations

Expectations
I do not expect the moon to be full
Every night, so why do I expect you
To fill me with what I can fill myself.
I expect the sun to rise because,
She doesn’t really rise, she stays
And our world moves around her
I do not expect the tide to turn on
Command because my commands
Are not for the tides or anyone but myself
I expect the flames to set fire
To our world when our intentions
are so careless with passion and pain
I do not expect the wind to whistle
For me or for anyone
But I do hope she brings change.
