The Enemy

The Enemy

Why do I ask you to fight the battle
When you do not see the hole
In my soul, that I dig and dig deeper?
When will I fill the mass, instead of
Falling in again and again and
With the courage of a crusader
Blind to reason, putting purpose
In my own masochism which grows
Out of control until I fall too deep
My blood, which runs warm, quickly
Turns cold to the air and earth, so
I paint my face in preparation for
A war with myself but with eyes
Wide open, I see there is no fight
But a child, who only craves love.
