The Silent Treatment

Wordlessly I communicate

the feeling you gave me

I let you control

My fiber, my being

And I have nothing to say

Not in words; only energy

Do you hear me?

Are you even listening?

The constraint is deafening

The meaning expansive

To me. But do you hear

My prescription of silence?

Sound waves travel too slowly

When silence is the sound

May I speak now?

My body only screams.

All is still, I am unheard

Until I grow, my voice matures

My truth unleashed

I may let go, and so I’m free.
